Film Commission Launches Advanced Virtual Production Platform At JAX Film Studios In Riyadh
The Film Commission has unveiled a cutting-edge virtual production platform at JAX Film Studios in Riyadh. This development marks a significant advancement in Saudi Arabia's film industry infrastructure. The platform, created with Pixomondo and Sony, uses the latest VERONA Crystal LED technology, positioning it to accommodate ambitious film projects.
JAX Film Studios is strategically located in Riyadh, providing filmmakers with easy access to luxury hotels, the international airport, and a growing network of production services and talent. This makes it an attractive hub for both local and international film productions.

The virtual studio boasts 2,720 Sony VERONA Crystal LED panels with a 2.3 mm pixel pitch. It features stage dimensions of 23 meters wide, 27.5 meters deep, and 10 meters high. This setup includes advanced camera tracking, real-time processing, and in-camera VFX capabilities to deliver photorealistic simulations that meet Hollywood standards.
JAX Film Studios offers comprehensive facilities under one roof. It includes two soundstages of 1,500 square meters each, a VIP lounge, a modern cinema screening room, and fully equipped production offices and prep spaces. This integrated environment supports filmmakers throughout the entire production process.
Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Qahtani, CEO of the Film Commission, stated that "JAX Film Studios is a milestone in the trajectory of Saudi filmmaking." He highlighted that investing in top-tier virtual production infrastructure is crucial for building a globally competitive film industry.
