Saudi Film Confex Launches Third Edition To Transform The Scene For Filmmakers
The Saudi Film Confex, now in its third edition, was launched by the Film Commission under the theme "Transforming the Scene." CEO Abdullah Al-Qahtani inaugurated the event, which gathered filmmakers and cinema experts from Saudi Arabia and beyond. This confex acts as a comprehensive platform that unites key players in the film industry, fostering collaboration between local and international participants.
Al-Qahtani, speaking on behalf of Minister of Culture Prince Bader bin Abdullah bin Farhan, emphasized the confex's significance in advancing Saudi Arabia's film industry. He highlighted its role as a hub for creatives, investors, and decision-makers to cultivate a promising cinematic future. The Kingdom is making strides toward becoming a regional and global film production hub.

The current momentum in Saudi Arabia’s film sector is attributed to the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030. Al-Qahtani noted that collaboration between local talents and international partners is crucial for establishing the Kingdom as a global destination for creativity and cinematic production. This vision supports cultural expression and economic growth through cinema.
The confex aims to empower local filmmakers and production companies while attracting investment. It also seeks to enhance partnerships both regionally and internationally. By providing a platform for knowledge exchange among industry professionals, it highlights Saudi Arabia’s position as a regional film hub.
The 2025 edition features an international conference with over 50 panel discussions and workshops focusing on content development and industry structuring. More than 60 speakers from 35 countries are participating. Alongside this, a large-scale exhibition showcases over 130 entities, including production companies and technology providers, reflecting the rapid growth of Saudi Arabia's film sector.
Al-Qahtani stressed that cinema serves as a powerful medium for expressing identity, preserving stories, building cultural bridges, and supporting a thriving creative economy. The Kingdom continues to attract international partnerships while nurturing national talent to strengthen its presence globally in both cultural and economic spheres.
