FIBA Asia Cup 2025 Logo Unveiled, Drawing Inspiration From Saudi Ardah Dance
The FIBA Asia Cup is set to take place in Jeddah in August 2025, and the official logo has been revealed. This event marks a significant milestone as the countdown begins for this prestigious basketball tournament. The unveiling ceremony was held at the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee (SOPC) headquarters in Riyadh.
Attendees at the ceremony included Eng. Bakr Darwish, Head of SOPC’s Joint Service Sector, Dr. Ghassan Tashkandi, president of the Saudi Basketball Federation (SBF), and Hagop Khajirian, FIBA executive director for Asia. The visual identity of the tournament draws inspiration from Saudi Arabia's cultural heritage.

The design of the FIBA Asia Cup logo incorporates elements from the traditional Saudi "Ardah" dance. This dance is a symbol of Saudi culture, and its rhythmic movements are mirrored in the agility of basketball players. The logo represents a fusion of tradition with modern athleticism.
Hagop Khajirian highlighted that this logo signifies not only the countdown to the 2025 Asia Cup but also showcases advancements in Asian basketball. He stated, "The design stands out for its simplicity and striking quality, symbolizing Asian basketball in a single glance—the simplicity that achieves goals."
Dr. Ghassan Tashkandi expressed Saudi Arabia's enthusiasm to host the Asian basketball community. He emphasized that they aim to provide an experience that merges authentic traditions with a forward-thinking vision. The logo reflects this vision by integrating traditional symbols with lavender hues inspired by local flora.
The journey towards qualifying for this tournament began in February 2024 with three rounds of qualifiers determining which 16 teams will compete in Jeddah. The second round is scheduled from November 21 to 25 and will be crucial for teams aiming to secure their place in the championship.
This event promises to be a celebration of both sport and culture, bringing together diverse communities under one roof while highlighting Saudi Arabia’s rich heritage on an international stage.
