Dubai Hosts FIATA-RAME Meeting To Forge Resilient Logistics Ecosystem
The International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA) recently convened for its RAME field meeting and conference at the Atlantis Hotel Dubai, under the esteemed patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed Saeed Al Maktoum. This gathering, orchestrated by the National Association of Freight and Logistics (NAFL), aimed to carve out strategies for a seamless logistics ecosystem amidst geopolitical disruptions. The focal point of discussions was the trade disruption caused by geopolitical issues and the formulation of strategies to nurture the burgeoning Middle East and Africa (MEA) logistics market. Currently valued at $163.57 billion, this market is on a trajectory to hit $222.63 billion by 2029.
Keynote speakers at the event included Humaid bin Salem, Chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce UAE, who underscored the UAE's dedication to bolstering global trade through enhanced multimodal connectivity. He urged participants to engage actively in discussions and seize the opportunities presented by the Federal Chambers or the ICC. Turgut Erkeskin, President of FIATA, in his keynote address, shed light on global challenges and emerging trends within the logistics sector, stressing the importance of collaborative solutions to regional challenges and spotlighting the potential within the RAME region.

The conference saw participation from over 600 delegates representing 16 FIATA member associations, including 11 from the Africa & Middle East region, spanning over 29 countries. Nadia Abdul Aziz, President of NAFL, extended a warm welcome to the delegates, emphasizing the UAE's pivotal role as a global logistics and trade gateway. She highlighted supportive initiatives such as the 10-year visa and pro-investment policies that cultivate a conducive environment for growth.
Among the highlights were showcases of the latest initiatives in the logistics sector, including advancements in digitalization and the implementation of the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) program by Dubai Customs. The Dubai Chamber presented its international services designed for corporates and investors, with a focus on business research and sustainability efforts. Dubai South also displayed its offerings related to e-commerce, logistics growth, and the Sea-Air Free Zone.
The conference facilitated panel discussions on the evolving logistics sector in the GCC region, providing insights into market overview, opportunities, and areas for growth. The aim was to unite industry leaders, innovators, and thought leaders to sculpt the future landscape of logistics in the MEA region.
