Ferjan Dubai's Al Freej Fridge Campaign Distributes 2 Million Bottles To Workers This Summer

Ferjan Dubai, with support from the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), has launched the second edition of the "Al Freej Fridge" campaign. This initiative, in collaboration with Suqia UAE and the UAE Food Bank, aims to distribute 2 million bottles of cold water, juices, and frozen treats to workers across Dubai. The campaign seeks to alleviate summer heat effects and promote solidarity within the community.

The campaign will run until August 23, targeting various worker groups such as cleaning staff, construction workers, delivery drivers, and road maintenance personnel. The primary objective is to mitigate health risks like dehydration and heat exhaustion due to high temperatures. Suqia UAE contributes by supplying large quantities of bottled water for distribution.

Al Freej Fridge Campaign Aims for 2 Million Bottles

The UAE Food Bank plays a crucial role by providing storage facilities for beverages and frozen items. It also allocates refrigerated vehicles to ensure timely delivery to workers. Volunteers are mobilised for on-the-ground distribution efforts, enhancing the campaign's reach and impact across different areas in Dubai.

Ibrahim Al Balooshi, Director of Sustainability and Partnerships at MBRGI, stated that the campaign embodies their mission of prioritising people. He said, "The ‘Al Freej Fridge’ campaign reflects the essence of our mission at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, which places people at the heart of its priorities."

Alia Al Shamlan, Director of Ferjan Dubai, highlighted that this initiative is rooted in community values and gratitude towards workers. She noted that it originated in Dubai's residential neighbourhoods as a gesture of appreciation for those contributing significantly to the emirate's development.

She added that building on last year's success, this edition aims to expand its reach further. "Building on the significant success of the first edition in summer 2024," she continued, "this second edition expands its reach by aiming to distribute 2 million bottles of cold water, juices, and frozen treats to workers."

Extending Campaign Reach

The initiative includes mobile refrigerated vehicles distributing refreshments at outdoor work sites throughout Dubai. Fixed fridges are also placed in worker accommodations stocked with necessary items. This approach ensures maximum coverage while encouraging volunteer participation from diverse community segments.

The first edition in summer 2024 was successful in distributing 1 million bottles of refreshments. It received substantial support from government entities and private companies alike. This achievement underscores Ferjan Dubai's commitment to social responsibility and appreciation for workers' dedication.
