Fatima Al Awadhi Becomes Youngest Emirati To Summit Europe's Highest Peak, Mount Elbrus

Fatima Abdulrahman Al Awadhi, a 17-year-old from the UAE, has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the youngest Emirati to reach the summit of Mount Elbrus in Russia. Standing at 5,642 metres, it is Europe's highest peak. This accomplishment is part of her quest to complete the "Seven Summits" challenge, a renowned global mountaineering goal.

Last year, Al Awadhi successfully climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's tallest mountain. Her recent climb was supported by Finance House in the UAE, which promotes youth empowerment. She faced harsh weather and challenging terrain to raise the UAE flag on Mount Elbrus. Her achievement sends a hopeful message to Arab youth, especially young women.

Al Awadhi dedicated her success to President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak. She expressed gratitude for their continuous support for Emirati youth and women. "This summit was only possible because of the unwavering support of our leadership," she stated. "I dedicate this achievement to those who taught us that nothing is beyond our reach."

Her journey reflects the aspirations of young Emiratis who combine adventure with community service. Al Awadhi plans to use her leadership and volunteer experiences to launch environmental and humanitarian projects aimed at aiding underprivileged communities and conserving nature.

Al Awadhi emphasised that her mission extends beyond personal goals. "It is a message that Emirati and Arab youth, especially young women, are capable of leading, exploring and making a meaningful impact," she said. Her achievements serve as an inspiration for others to pursue their dreams despite challenges.

Expressing heartfelt gratitude towards her family, she said, "To my mother, Dr. Amal Al Qubaisi, you are my anchor and my strength. And to my late father, Abdulrahman Al Awadhi, your guidance taught me to aim for the skies with steady steps." Her words highlight the importance of family support in achieving one's goals.
