Sheikh Mohammed Launches AED 1 Billion Fathers' Endowment Campaign For Ramadan Healthcare Support

The UAE has introduced the Fathers’ Endowment campaign, a significant initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. This campaign is part of the "Year of Community" initiative announced by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The endowment, valued at AED1 billion, aims to provide healthcare and treatment for the underprivileged, reflecting the UAE's commitment to charity and community support.

Mohammed Al Gergawi, Secretary-General of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), highlighted that this campaign aligns with the Year of Community's goals. It aims to strengthen family ties and promote social solidarity. He noted that past Ramadan campaigns have showcased the UAE's culture of generosity, with widespread participation from both public and private sectors in supporting charitable projects.

Fathers' Endowment Campaign Launched for Ramadan

The Fathers’ Endowment campaign is designed to offer sustainable healthcare solutions for those in need. By establishing a lasting fund, it seeks to enhance healthcare systems through hospital development and medicine provision. Donations made in honour of fathers will further reinforce values of respect and social unity while elevating the UAE's philanthropic reputation globally.

This initiative is part of MBRGI, the region's largest humanitarian organisation. MBRGI focuses on various pillars including healthcare, education, and community empowerment. It addresses global challenges by providing innovative solutions across cultural, educational, economic, social, health, environmental, and humanitarian domains.

The Fathers’ Endowment continues a tradition of successful Ramadan campaigns initiated by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Previous efforts include campaigns like "10 Million Meals" in 2020 and "100 Million Meals" in 2021. These initiatives have collectively provided millions of meals to those in need worldwide.

In 2024, the Mothers’ Endowment campaign was launched during Ramadan to honour mothers in the UAE. It aimed to create a AED1 billion endowment for global education but exceeded expectations by raising over AED1.4 billion. This effort will empower millions through education and skills development.

Addressing Global Healthcare Challenges

The world faces numerous healthcare issues such as limited access to medical services and rising mental health concerns. According to WHO data, over half of the global population lacks basic healthcare access. The Fathers’ Endowment campaign aims to address these challenges by promoting sustainable healthcare solutions for underserved communities worldwide.

H.H. Sheikh Mohammed stated: "Dear brothers and sisters, as Ramadan approaches, we continue our tradition of humanitarian campaigns with the launch of the Fathers’ Endowment—a sustainable and ongoing charity honouring all fathers in the UAE." He emphasised that fathers are role models who guide with wisdom and strength.

MBRGI’s Comprehensive Approach

MBRGI consolidates over 30 initiatives led by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum over two decades. Its mission spans five main pillars: Humanitarian Aid and Relief; Healthcare; Education; Innovation; and Community Empowerment. Beyond aid provision, MBRGI develops innovative solutions addressing regional and global challenges.

Healthcare remains a primary focus for MBRGI as it tackles critical health issues like infectious diseases while providing urgent care for mothers and children. Efforts include essential medical services delivery, preventative care programs, surgeries support along with awareness campaigns aimed at creating healthier environments globally.

The Fathers’ Endowment campaign not only honours fathers but also strengthens family bonds within communities while promoting philanthropy across borders through sustainable endowments dedicated towards achieving long-term healthcare goals worldwide.
