Fashion Commission And JETRO Collaborate To Boost Saudi-Japanese Fashion Innovation And Sustainability

The Fashion Commission and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) have joined forces to enhance innovation and sustainability in Saudi Arabia's fashion industry. This collaboration is part of the commission's strategic goals, which focus on educating local designers, nurturing the fashion ecosystem, and preserving cultural heritage.

Running from February 18 to February 20, an exhibition at the Fashion Commission's headquarters in Riyadh showcases Japanese textiles. The event highlights sustainable production methods and celebrates creativity. It also features interactive workshops aimed at providing educational opportunities for Saudi designers and textile experts.

Saudi-Japanese Fashion Partnership Announced

The exhibition honours the rich cultural heritage of both Saudi Arabia and Japan by blending traditional techniques with modern design innovations. It seeks to inspire a new generation of designers to explore how heritage can intersect with contemporary fashion trends.

Shiro Akiyama, Managing Director of JETRO’s Riyadh office, highlighted that this partnership enhances long-standing trade relations between Saudi Arabia and Japan. It opens new avenues for mutual cooperation in the fashion and textile sectors.

Burak Cakmak, CEO of the Fashion Commission, stated that this partnership underscores their commitment to empowering local designers while strengthening the fashion sector. He noted that the exhibition is a significant step in fostering creative dialogue between Saudi and Japanese talents.
