FANN Launches Workshops To Enhance Children's Visual Arts Skills In Sharjah

FANN, the Media Discovery Platform, is hosting various creative workshops this May for children and youth aged 6 to 18. These workshops are inspired by H.H. Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi's vision. They aim to empower young artists and enhance their skills in filmmaking, multimedia, animation, and photography. The initiative seeks to inspire participants to follow their passion in media and visual arts.

The foundation's efforts align with its goal of fostering a culture of creativity and excellence among young people. It also aims to elevate Sharjah’s reputation as a child- and youth-friendly city. Huda Safar Al Harmoudi, Deputy Director General of the FUNN Foundation, highlighted the foundation's dedication to offering innovative platforms that support children and youth in gaining knowledge and exploring new media art forms.

FANN's Workshops for Young Artists in Sharjah

FANN is continuing its "From Script to Screen" training program until 25th May. This program targets young individuals aged 15 to 18, providing them with an opportunity to explore filmmaking basics. Under Maryam Al Serkal's supervision, participants learn scriptwriting techniques, filming and directing methods, and film editing skills. This training serves as a precursor for creating short films that reflect their creative visions.

The short films produced through this program will be showcased at the next Sharjah International Film Festival for Children and Youth in October 2025. This festival provides a platform for young filmmakers to present their work and gain recognition for their talents.

Sahar Abdullah is leading the "Eid with Art 1" workshop until 8th May. This workshop caters to children aged 13-15, teaching them how to design Eid-themed packaging like gift cards, mugs, posters, and gift box covers. FANN is also collaborating with Tamakn for the "Eid with Art 2" workshop on 14th and 15th May 2025.

Participants in the "Eid with Art 2" workshop will delve into designing Eid envelopes and cards using digital tools. This hands-on experience allows them to understand the creative process involved in crafting unique designs for festive occasions.

Photography Workshop

The foundation is preparing a "Family Photography" workshop scheduled for 24th and 25th May. Ola Al Loz will guide young people aged 15-18 through essential photography techniques. The focus will be on lighting elements, image composition, visual storytelling methods using photography, and family portraiture.

This comprehensive approach ensures participants gain practical skills in capturing meaningful images while understanding the nuances of visual storytelling through photography.

These workshops collectively aim to nurture young talents by providing them with opportunities to explore various media arts fields. By doing so, FANN hopes to inspire future generations of artists who can contribute creatively within their communities.
