Abu Dhabi FCA Launches Aftercare Service for Post-Residential Recovery
The Family Care Authority (FCA) in Abu Dhabi has introduced the Aftercare Service as part of its Halfway Houses project. This initiative is a significant element of the Integrated Care Model, aiming to enhance recovery paths with flexible, high-quality treatment programmes. These programmes do not require inpatient residency, catering to individuals who have completed residential care or whose conditions do not need such treatment.
Salama Al Ameemi, Director General of the Family Care Authority, stated: "The Aftercare Service implements our wise leadership’s vision of a cohesive society by empowering individuals and strengthening family bonds and enforcing social stability. Aligning with the Abu Dhabi Integrated Strategy to Combat Addiction, the service provides a comprehensive, research-based treatment framework that drives sustainable recovery and facilitates the reintegration of individuals as productive members of society."

This service is tailored for patients with mild to moderate addiction who are legally adults and have completed detoxification. It offers ongoing support through structured environments that promote continued recovery. The programme also supports those who have finished the Halfway House residential treatment programme, ensuring they receive necessary care.
Rashid Saeed Aldhaheri, Head of the Halfway Houses Section at FCA, remarked: "We believe that recovery extends beyond inpatient care, requiring ongoing, structured support to ensure psychological well-being, independence, and effective social reintegration. The Aftercare Service embodies FCA’s dedication to pioneering mental health and social services that drive lasting and measurable impact."
The Aftercare Service includes specialised programmes such as individual and group therapy sessions, development of social skills, relapse prevention strategies, and family support initiatives. These are designed to help individuals maintain their rehabilitation journey within a supportive framework that ensures long-term recovery success.
A dedicated team of specialists operates this service at full capacity. They deliver care adhering to top psychological and behavioural health standards. This approach ensures an effective treatment experience that leaves a lasting impact on each individual's recovery journey.
The initiative aligns with Abu Dhabi's strategy against addiction by providing a comprehensive treatment framework based on research. This framework supports sustainable recovery while helping individuals reintegrate into society as productive members.
