Family Affairs Council Collaborates With UNICEF To Enhance Child Development Initiatives In Saudi Arabia

The Family Affairs Council, in partnership with UNICEF, held a consultative meeting to draft the sub-regional cooperation program document for 2026–2030. Over 20 national entities participated. The meeting reviewed national priorities and childhood initiatives, examined the current developmental context, and discussed mechanisms for developing the joint cooperation program. Preliminary outlines for future focus areas were also presented.

In her opening remarks, Dr. Maimoonah Al-Khalil, Secretary-General of the Family Affairs Council, highlighted the meeting's goal to align stakeholders' visions and plans with UNICEF’s regional program document. This alignment aims to meet the Kingdom’s needs and priorities. She noted that this gathering was crucial for identifying pressing issues needing attention in upcoming years.

Edward Beigbeder, UNICEF Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa, praised Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 as an ambitious model prioritising children. He expressed pride in the partnership with Saudi Arabia, acknowledging its humanitarian role in supporting vulnerable children and families globally.

This initiative is part of broader international efforts by the Council to enhance cooperation with organisations focused on family welfare. It aligns with Saudi Vision 2030 and reflects the Kingdom's dedication to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
