KSGAAL And Saudi Falcons Club Collaborate To Launch Falconry Terminology Dictionary For Cultural Heritage
The King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language (KSGAAL) has introduced the "Falconry Terminology Dictionary" in collaboration with the Saudi Falcons Club. This launch coincides with the International Saudi Falcons and Hunting Exhibition 2025. Dr. Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Washmi, Secretary-General of KSGAAL, acknowledged the support from Prince Bader bin Abdullah bin Farhan, Minister of Culture and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, for backing the academy's initiatives.
Dr. Al-Washmi highlighted that this dictionary is a significant addition to the academy's series of specialized dictionaries. These dictionaries are developed in partnership with national institutions to document concepts related to Arab heritage and enhance the Arabic language in specific knowledge areas. He emphasized that working with the Saudi Falcons Club exemplifies institutional integration, promoting Arabic through projects that fill terminological gaps for specialists and enthusiasts alike.

Talal AlShamaisi, CEO of the Saudi Falcons Club, remarked on the dictionary's importance in preserving falconry's cultural heritage. He noted that documenting its terminology within a scientific framework boosts its local and global significance. The collaboration with KSGAAL showcases national efforts to support both heritage and language.
The newly launched dictionary enriches specialized Arabic content by supporting researchers and enthusiasts while reinforcing Saudi Arabia's position as a global falconry hub. It comprises approximately 277 lexical entries, including singular and compound terms related to falcon species, colors, characteristics, life stages, diseases, defects, taming tools, training equipment, and technical terms associated with falconry gear.
This initiative not only documents falconry terminology but also strengthens cultural ties by preserving traditions passed down through generations. The dictionary serves as a resource for those interested in understanding and maintaining this aspect of Arab heritage.
The collaborative effort between KSGAAL and the Saudi Falcons Club highlights how national institutions can work together to advance cultural preservation while enhancing linguistic resources. By bridging terminological gaps in specialized fields like falconry, these projects address both academic needs and public interest.
This project underscores Saudi Arabia's commitment to cultural preservation and linguistic development. It reflects an integrated approach where national institutions collaborate to serve both heritage conservation and language enhancement goals effectively.
