Eye Of The World Restores Sight To Over 125,000 Patients And Targets One Million Surgeries

Eye of the World Team, part of Dubai Humanitarian, has restored vision for over 125,000 individuals since its inception in 2009. They aim to perform one million cataract surgeries using advanced and safe technologies. This commitment is highlighted on World Sight Day, an annual event observed on the second Thursday of October to raise awareness about blindness and vision impairment.

The theme for this year's World Sight Day is "Love Your Eyes." Eye of the World Team is dedicated to providing top-notch eye care to underserved communities. They are committed to advancing global efforts against preventable blindness, marking this significant day with renewed dedication.

Eye of the World Aims for One Million Surgeries

World Sight Day focuses on international initiatives to tackle treatable blindness, especially cataracts. Cataracts are the leading cause of blindness globally, affecting over 100 million people. Despite being easily treatable with a quick operation, many in impoverished areas lose their sight due to inadequate health services or lack of skilled personnel.

Dr. Mohamed Hendy, Founder and CEO of Eye of the World Team, shared with Emirates News Agency (WAM) that their goal is to treat one million blind patients worldwide. "Our goal is not only to perform surgeries but also to bridge the gap between efforts made on the ground and their real impact on people's lives. For us, every operation is an opportunity to restore sight to a person, enabling them to live a better and more dignified life," he stated.

The team continues its impactful work through various partnerships aimed at treating and improving vision for thousands globally. Their focus is particularly on those in impoverished and remote regions. By making light a right for everyone, they strive to combat preventable blindness effectively.

On World Sight Day, Dubai Humanitarian and Eye of the World reaffirm their commitment to ensuring no one is left behind in the fight against avoidable blindness. Their ongoing efforts highlight the importance of accessible eye care for all.

Treatable blindness remains a severe consequence of poverty despite simple solutions. Millions continue losing sight due to poor healthcare access or lack of qualified professionals. The Eye of the World Team's mission addresses these challenges by providing necessary treatments where they are most needed.
