EXPRO Achieves Global FM Gold Award For Excellence In Facility Management And Innovation
The Government Expenditure and Projects Efficiency Authority (EXPRO) has been honoured with the Gold Award by the Global Facility Management Association (GLOBAL FM). This accolade recognises EXPRO's excellence in operations, innovative practices, and leadership in transforming facility management. The award highlights EXPRO's commitment to operational excellence and its ability to address challenges efficiently.
EXPRO Acting Executive Vice-President of Assets and Facilities Management Hani Mirza stated: "This award represents the culmination of diligent efforts undertaken by EXPRO and its government partners to foster a culture of excellence and adopt best practices in facilities and assets management. Such endeavors ensure that current facility and infrastructure needs are met with efficiency and effectiveness, while simultaneously guaranteeing future readiness. This is achieved by addressing challenges related to efficiency, costs, and resource waste, and by promoting operational excellence and technological innovation, ultimately leading to sustainable development."

EXPRO has made strides in optimising asset utilisation through detailed performance analysis. It identified underutilised facilities covering over 20 million square metres. By repurposing these assets with relevant entities, EXPRO achieved SAR3.8 billion in savings on both operational and capital expenditures.
In collaboration with government bodies, EXPRO developed the National Manual for Asset and Facilities Management. This manual serves as a comprehensive guide for standardising asset management practices across sectors. Comprising 17 volumes, it includes standards informed by international and local references.
A key focus for EXPRO is localising employment within the facility management sector. Working with various government entities, it has contributed to employing over 200,000 Saudis through localised operations and maintenance contracts. Since 2021, more than 4,500 individuals have been trained through its capacity-building programs.
The "Buna" Knowledge Center supports continuous improvement by offering resources like scientific articles, educational videos, and infographics. These tools equip practitioners with essential knowledge to contribute effectively to national development goals.
Innovative Maintenance Solutions
EXPRO's "Shared Maintenance Initiative" addresses inefficiencies from multiple independent contracts within the same area. By consolidating these contracts into a single system, it improved cost transparency and service quality while enhancing operational efficiency by 18%.
The 3D Printing Initiative marks a significant advancement in manufacturing spare parts using advanced technologies. It reduced manufacturing costs by 96%, improved supply speed by 88%, and doubled component lifespan. This initiative aligns with Saudi Vision 2030's focus on innovation.
Healthcare Sector Improvements
In healthcare, EXPRO enhanced medical equipment utilisation by redistributing ventilators. This effort increased device availability by 30%, resulting in SAR43 million financial impact while improving patient care capabilities.
Additionally, improvements in medical laundry services led to a 30% cost reduction and decreased reliance on low-skilled labour by 52%. These initiatives contribute to more efficient healthcare service delivery.
