EXPRO Launches Campaign To Emphasise Role Of Expenditure Efficiency Teams In Government Agencies

The Government Expenditure and Projects Efficiency Authority (EXPRO) has initiated a campaign to raise awareness about the crucial role of expenditure efficiency teams in government agencies. These teams are instrumental in improving expenditure planning through various procedures and initiatives. Since 2019, over 4,000 initiatives have been documented, involving more than 190 teams across different government agencies.

Expenditure efficiency teams were established six years ago following a royal decree. Each agency leads its internal team to operationalise strategies for expenditure efficiency. Their responsibilities include developing and implementing initiatives, participating in budget workshops, and reporting achievements to both the agency head and EXPRO.

EXPRO Promotes Expenditure Efficiency in Government

Turki Bukhari, EXPRO's Executive Vice President for Empowering Government Entities, stated: "The success achieved by the expenditure efficiency teams in government agencies over the past few years reflects the level of maturity in the concept of expenditure efficiency in government agencies, and the keenness of the national cadres to apply the best methodologies and practices that contribute to directing government resources in alignment with national strategies, and achieve the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 in an effective government committed to enhancing expenditure efficiency to achieve financial sustainability and development and improve the quality of services provided to citizens, residents and visitors."

The authority collaborates with government entities to enhance expenditure planning and needs assessment. This is done by promoting a culture of expenditure efficiency, building capacities of national cadres, and adopting best practices. The aim is to align with national strategies for effective resource allocation.

EXPRO has developed six manuals that guide forming expenditure efficiency teams. These manuals also cover methodologies for identifying improvement opportunities and strategies for fostering a culture of efficiency within the Pillars of Efficiency Sustainability Program. Specialized workshops have been organized for team leaders.

The authority's academy offers training programs on various topics such as change management, expenditure review, implementation management skills, capacity planning, demand planning, and operational excellence. These programs aim to build competencies among national cadres in government entities.

Strategic Partnerships for Efficiency

EXPRO partners with government entities to promote expenditure efficiency practices. This partnership aims to enhance procurement processes' effectiveness, improve project quality, assets, facilities, infrastructure planning, programs, initiatives, operational processes, policies development, systems methodologies, and build national cadre qualifications.

The reallocation of financial resources towards priority development projects benefits Saudi Arabia significantly. By focusing on these areas, EXPRO contributes to achieving financial sustainability while improving service quality for citizens and residents alike.
