Expand North Star 2025 Concludes, Strengthening Dubai's Position As A Global Innovation Hub
The tenth edition of Expand North Star concluded on Wednesday, showcasing a remarkable gathering of innovators and investors in advanced technologies worldwide. This event solidified its reputation as the largest global meeting for startups and investors, underscoring Dubai's crucial role in shaping digital entrepreneurship's future.
Organised by Dubai World Trade Centre and hosted by Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, the event attracted over 2,000 startups and more than 1,200 investors managing assets worth US$ 1.1 trillion. The founders of 40 unicorn companies with a combined valuation of US$ 900 billion also participated.

Startups from Asia made up about 41% of the participants, followed by Europe (18%), North America (7%), and Latin America (7%). The event saw new national pavilions from countries like the United States, Syria, Ecuador, and Chile. This addition highlights the event's growing global appeal as a leading platform for business and innovation.
Indian startups had a strong presence with around 300 participants. Brazil marked its largest participation in the event’s history with over 50 Brazilian startups taking part. These numbers reflect the expanding international interest in this significant gathering.
Artificial intelligence was a key focus at the exhibition, with 22% of companies specialising in AI. Climate tech accounted for 13%, covering energy, agriculture, and food sectors. Healthtech and fintech each represented 11% of participating companies. Other sectors included education technology, deep tech, adtech, mobility, cybersecurity, and smart cities.
This year's programme introduced several new features to enhance its appeal. These included ScaleX for fast-growing tech scaleups; North Star Green Impact spotlighting climate innovation; Deeptech MEA Summit; and Digital Assets Forum. These additions offered insights into emerging technology trends shaping future innovation.
UAE-Based Startups' Strong Presence
UAE-based companies made a notable impact at Expand North Star 2025. Around 500 digital startups were headquartered in the UAE, including 116 Emirati-owned enterprises. The ‘Emaratipreneur’ initiative featured 50 startups highlighting contributions from Emirati innovators and entrepreneurs.
The participation showcased the evolution of the UAE’s digital business environment and emphasised the competitiveness of Emirati talent in advanced technology sectors.
Dubai Chamber's Role in Supporting Growth
The Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy’s pavilion attracted many attendees eager to learn about Dubai’s digital business environment. Visitors explored the chamber’s ‘Launchpad Dubai’ programme offering services to support business establishment in Dubai, including Golden Visas issuance.
The pavilion also provided insights into the ‘Business in Dubai’ platform, which is crucial to attracting and empowering digital companies as part of the chamber's efforts.
This year’s success has strengthened Expand North Star's position as a cornerstone of Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy’s strategy to advance Dubai’s vision as a global capital for innovation and technology. The event continues to stimulate economic growth by attracting the global tech community to Dubai.
