Excellence In Oncology Care Conference 2024: Over 200 Leaders Gather In Dubai To Address Cancer Challenges
The Excellence in Oncology Care Conference (EIOC 2024) has commenced at the Intercontinental Festival City in Dubai. Scheduled for 11th to 12th October, this event gathers global oncology leaders to share insights, encourage collaboration, and tackle significant cancer care challenges. The conference aims to advance oncology through knowledge exchange and cooperation among experts.
Research by the World Health Organisation shows about 20 million new cancer cases worldwide, with an estimated 9.7 million deaths. Cancer's burden is expected to rise over 75% by 2050, reaching more than 35 million new cases annually. This increase is exacerbated by inadequate cancer care services, especially in low- and middle-income countries.

EIOC 2024 addresses these issues with participation from over 30 specialised organisations, more than 200 expert speakers, and over 5,000 visitors from Middle Eastern countries. The event features a comprehensive lineup of 14 scientific sessions focused on advancing oncology care through collaboration and knowledge-sharing efforts.
Dr. Abdulsalam AlMadani, Chairman of INDEX Holding, remarked on the conference's success: "The continuous success of the Excellence in Oncology Care Conference (EIOC) 2024 has sparked interest from numerous local and regional companies eager to participate. The UAE has made significant strides in oncology and its treatments, and thanks to these exceptional scientific events, there is now no need to travel abroad for specialised global conferences on diseases."
The conference offers healthcare providers a platform to access information, collaborate with peers, and educate themselves on delivering enhanced patient care. Experts lead discussions on current topics in oncology through scientific sessions and workshops covering areas like breast cancer, lung cancer, genetic immunology, gastrointestinal oncology, immuno-oncology, uro-oncology, oncology nutrition, nursing, palliative care, and molecular tumours.
Notably, the programme focuses on head and neck oncology, gastrointestinal oncology, immuno-oncology and targeted therapeutics. The APMEA Molecular Tumour Board fosters collaboration for improved patient outcomes through knowledge-sharing and innovation.
Young Leaders Initiative
A key addition to EIOC 2024 is the ‘Young Leaders in Oncology’ initiative. This platform allows emerging professionals to present their research and innovative studies. It highlights EIOC’s commitment to nurturing future oncology specialists by providing opportunities for new ideas and advancements in the global fight against cancer.
Dr. Shaheenah Dawood, EIOC Conference President stated: "As we come together for EIOC 2024, we reflect on the significant strides made in the UAE’s battle against cancer driven by proactive government initiatives." She emphasised that the congress serves as an ongoing platform for education and innovation beyond being a one-time event.
