EtihadWE Launches New Tariffs To Boost Northern Emirates' Industry

Etihad Water and Electricity (EtihadWE) has unveiled a revised energy consumption tariff structure in Northern Emirates. This innovative pricing model, developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology and the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, is designed to offer financial incentives and price reductions, marking a significant milestone in the region's economic development initiatives.

The announcement was made by Eng. Yousef Ahmed Al Ali, CEO of EtihadWE, during the Make it in the Emirates Forum. He highlighted that the new tariff structure is an extension of the 2018 initiative, aiming to further reduce electricity consumption costs for industrial sector customers who meet a certain usage criteria. With a focus on promoting sustainable industrial growth, this revised structure introduces a tiered pricing system that benefits those exceeding a monthly consumption of 10,000 megawatt-hours.

Under this system, industrial customers can expect an initial rate of 32 fils per kilowatt-hour, which can decrease to 26 fils per kilowatt-hour based on the volume of consumption. This tiered approach not only promises significant cost reductions but also reinforces EtihadWE's commitment to providing competitive energy solutions to its industrial clients.

By implementing these cost-effective tariff rates, EtihadWE is looking to play a pivotal role in fostering economic expansion in the Northern Emirates. The aim is to stimulate industrial activity, draw in new investments, and generate employment opportunities, thereby supporting the broader economic vision of the region.

Eng. Al Ali further elaborated on the potential impact of the revised tariffs, suggesting that lowered electricity costs would not only aid in sustaining current industrial operations but also in attracting fresh investments. This strategic move underscores a comprehensive approach to energising the industrial landscape of the Northern Emirates, ensuring it remains an attractive destination for technological innovation and industrial advancement.
