Etihad Rail Celebrates Winners Of Global Rail Innovation Award At Inaugural Event

The Global Rail Transport Infrastructure Exhibition and Conference, hosted by Etihad Rail, spotlighted innovative ideas shaping future mobility. The event recognised three transformative concepts through its Innovation Award. H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan highlighted the leadership's support in enhancing Etihad Rail's role in the transport sector. He emphasised the company's initiatives, including the Global Rail 2024 Innovation Award, which encourages creativity and innovation in this vital industry.

The competition attracted over 75 global submissions, aiming to revolutionise transportation. Ten finalists were chosen by Etihad Rail experts and announced during the event's closing ceremony. These finalists presented diverse solutions, from magnetic levitation technology to AI-driven depot inspections. Ultimately, three winners emerged with projects poised to redefine mobility, enhance efficiency and sustainability, and optimise rail infrastructure.

The winning projects included CEMIT's "Monitoring in Motion with CEMIT: Evolution Infrastructure Monitoring with Trains," LTTS's "Innovative Way to Detect Visible Rail Defects in Real-Time," and SYSTRA's "Digital Twin for Railway Infrastructure." Each winner received AED 500,000 to pilot their projects at Etihad Rail facilities. This financial support underscores Etihad Rail's commitment to advancing these groundbreaking ideas.

Manuel Simon from CEMIT expressed excitement about turning their concept into reality with Etihad Rail's support. Étienne PANSART of SYSTRA noted that the recognition accelerates their technology development for a more efficient rail future. Alind Saxena of L&T Technology Services shared that winning reinforced their dedication to industry advancement and collaboration with leaders for innovation.

The flagship event underscored Etihad Rail's dedication to fostering collaboration and innovation in rail transport. The Global Rail Innovation Award was central to these efforts, highlighting disruptive ideas' potential impact on the sector.
