Etihad And Ethiopian Airlines Enhance Global Travel With New Codeshare Partnership

Etihad Airways and Ethiopian Airlines have initiated a codeshare agreement, enhancing travel connectivity between Africa, Asia, Australia, and the Middle East. This collaboration allows passengers to book seats now, offering more global travel options. Ethiopian Airlines will commence flights from Addis Ababa to Abu Dhabi on 15th July, while Etihad will begin daily services to Addis Ababa starting 8th October.

This agreement marks the initial phase of a Joint Venture planned for March 2025. The venture aims to provide greater travel opportunities across both airlines' networks. The codeshare simplifies journeys by enabling a single booking and check-in process, with baggage transferred directly to the final destination.

New Codeshare Partnership Between Etihad and Ethiopian Airlines

Etihad's Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer, Arik De, stated, "By leveraging our combined networks, we are unlocking seamless travel opportunities between Africa and Asia, Australia, and the Middle East. Easy connections via Abu Dhabi and Addis Ababa will enhance flexibility, boosting trade and tourism, and delivering unparalleled travel experiences to guests of both airlines."

Through this partnership, Etihad passengers can access Ethiopian Airlines' extensive African network. This includes connections via Addis Ababa to 55 destinations in 33 countries such as Entebbe, Kinshasa, Kigali, Lusaka, Harare, and Victoria Falls. This expansion significantly broadens travel options across Africa.

Conversely, Ethiopian Airlines passengers can connect through Abu Dhabi on Etihad-operated flights. They can reach 20 key destinations across Asia, Australia, and the Middle East including Sydney, Krabi, Colombo, and Phnom Penh. This enhances their itinerary choices significantly.

Commitment to African Market

In response to Africa's growing air travel demand, Etihad is expanding its network in 2025. The airline plans to introduce new destinations and increase flight frequencies to strengthen connections across the continent. This move underscores Etihad's commitment to meeting the rising demand for air travel in Africa.

The collaboration between these two airlines not only boosts connectivity but also supports trade and tourism growth in these regions. By combining their networks effectively, they offer passengers more flexible travel options while enhancing overall travel experiences.
