Etihad Engineering And Partners Launch Programme To Train Emiratis In Aviation Sector
Etihad Engineering, Lufthansa Technik Middle East, and GE Aerospace have partnered to create a programme aimed at providing UAE nationals with practical experience and career opportunities in aviation. This initiative, formalised during the Dubai Airshow 2025, focuses on developing a Maintenance Training Programme (MTP) to enhance the skills of the local workforce in aviation maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO).
The Maintenance Training Programme is crafted in collaboration with Lufthansa Technical Training. It is designed to meet the technical qualification needs of the UAE's aviation sector. The programme combines classroom instruction with hands-on training, covering essential topics such as airframe structures, aircraft maintenance, and engine basics.

"Our joint efforts with Lufthansa Technik Middle East and GE Aerospace will help nurture homegrown talent while introducing new technologies and practices to benefit the entire Middle Eastern MRO community," said Daniel Hoffmann, CEO of Etihad Engineering. This collaboration aims to equip Emirati professionals with the skills needed to excel in the aviation industry.
Aziz Koleilat, President and CEO of GE Aerospace for the Middle East, Türkiye, Eastern Europe & CI, stated that combining GE Aerospace’s global expertise with regional strengths will help develop a new generation of Emirati aviation experts. This effort reinforces the UAE's status as a hub for aerospace excellence.
Graduates who successfully complete the training programme will have opportunities to join Lufthansa Technik Middle East, GE Aerospace, or Etihad Engineering. These organisations are committed to integrating these skilled individuals into their workforce as they continue to expand their operations.
Ziad Al Hazmi, CEO of Lufthansa Technik Middle East, expressed enthusiasm about working with Etihad Engineering and GE Aerospace. "Working alongside Etihad Engineering and GE Aerospace, we are fostering an environment where local professionals can thrive, ensuring the region remains at the forefront of global MRO excellence."
This initiative not only supports local talent development but also strengthens the region's position in global aviation maintenance. By investing in education and training, these companies aim to ensure that UAE nationals are well-prepared for future challenges in this dynamic industry.
