Etihad Cargo Achieves Robust Growth With A 17% Increase In Tonnage In H1 2024
Etihad Cargo, the logistics division of Etihad Airways, has reported a notable increase in performance for the first half of 2024. The carrier experienced a 17% rise in tonnage compared to the same period in 2023. The airline saw significant regional growth, especially in the East, where tonnage rose by 19%. In the Western region, there was a substantial 20% increase in tonnage. The UAE also experienced a 15% growth in tonnage. These figures reflect the carrier's ability to adapt and expand its services to meet regional demands effectively.

Stanislas Brun, Vice President Cargo, remarked: "Etihad Cargo has demonstrated agility, adapting to evolving customer needs and responding to increased demand across key markets. The carrier has strategically increased freighter and belly capacity to support regional growth and Etihad Cargo’s partners. Etihad Cargo has also focused on enhancing its special product range, which has contributed significantly to its growth. The PharmaLife product, certified by IATA CEIV Pharma, saw a 9% increase in tonnage from H1 2023 to H1 2024. This was supported by new specialised cool dollies and breathable thermal blankets designed to reduce exposure to adverse environmental conditions outside temperature-controlled areas.
SecureTech, introduced in February 2024, achieved a remarkable 95% increase in revenue compared to H1 2023. This product ensures the safe transportation of consumer electronics, meeting the rising demand driven by new mobile phones and devices. Additionally, Etihad Cargo earned IATA's CEIV Li-batt certification for safely transporting lithium battery shipments, becoming only the third Middle Eastern airline to receive this recognition.
Customer-Centric Approach
Stanislas commented, "Etihad Cargo’s focus on taking a customer-centric approach to growth has been integral to the carrier’s success. By enhancing product offerings, Etihad Cargo can continue to meet the evolving needs of customers and partners, delivering exceptional service across the globe to remain the air cargo partner of choice."
