Etihad Cargo Debuts Boston Service, Bolsters US Network And Capacity

Etihad Cargo, the freight division of Etihad Airways, has recently announced the launch of a new service to Boston, Massachusetts, marking a significant expansion of its operations within the United States. The inaugural flight, which landed on 31 March, signifies the beginning of a regular service that will include four flights per week to Boston. This addition extends Etihad Cargo's US network, positioning Boston as its fourth destination in the region. The service aims to meet the growing demand for cargo capacity between Boston and Abu Dhabi, leveraging a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner to provide an extra 50 tonnes of cargo space weekly.

The new route is set to cater to a variety of commodities prevalent in the Boston area, with a particular focus on perishables, medical instruments, pharmaceuticals, and aircraft parts. Recognized globally as a pivotal hub for food, pharmaceuticals, and innovative research and development, Boston's integration into Etihad Cargo's network is expected to significantly improve the distribution of key exports such as lobsters, seafood, medical devices, and oncology treatments from Boston to Abu Dhabi and beyond.

Etihad Cargo's New Boston Route

This latest route addition underscores Etihad Cargo's commitment to enhancing global connectivity and facilitating international trade. The carrier's US network now boasts 33 weekly flights, including double daily flights to New York's JFK airport, daily services to Chicago O'Hare (ORD) and Washington, D.C. (IAD), and a weekly freighter service to Chicago. Stanislas Brun, Vice President of Cargo at Etihad Cargo, highlighted the strategic importance of the Boston route in supporting the region's export economy and strengthening trade ties between the US and UAE.

Partnership with Worldwide Flight Services

In a move to further bolster its service offerings in the US, Etihad Cargo has expanded its partnership with Worldwide Flight Services (WFS), a member of the SATS Group. This collaboration encompasses all of Etihad Cargo's stations in the US and is set to enhance the carrier's premium offerings. Through this partnership, Etihad Cargo aims to deliver consistent, high-quality air cargo solutions across its network. The carrier's CEIV-certified products such as PharmaLife for pharmaceutical transport; FreshForward for perishables; and specialized services like LiveAnimals and SkyStables for live animal transport are at the forefront of this initiative.

The introduction of the Boston service by Etihad Cargo not only expands its footprint in the US but also reinforces its dedication to providing customized cargo solutions across its global network. By focusing on key commodities and leveraging strategic partnerships, Etihad Cargo is poised to support the diverse needs of its clientele while promoting international trade and connectivity.
