Etihad Airways Launches Comprehensive UAE National Talent Development Strategy For Emirati Professionals
Etihad Airways has introduced a new strategy to develop Emirati talent, aiming to position itself as the top employer for UAE Nationals. This initiative focuses on nurturing Emirati professionals and enhancing their skills. As the UAE's aviation sector grows, Etihad is committed to playing a key role in this expansion by increasing the hiring of UAE Nationals across various divisions.
The programme offers six distinct career paths for ambitious Emiratis. These include the Cadet Pilot Programme, which involves two years of training in Abu Dhabi and Spain, and the Cadet Technician Programme, a five-year course blending academic learning with practical experience. Other opportunities include roles in airport management, an MBA Future Leader Programme, and entry-level positions in strategic areas like finance and technology.

Antonoaldo Neves, Etihad’s CEO, emphasised the importance of Emirati talent in the airline's growth plans. He stated that by 2030, Etihad aims to double its fleet and expand its network to over 125 destinations. To achieve these goals, a strong pipeline of skilled Emiratis is essential. The strategy will increase Etihad’s UAE National workforce by more than 50% over five years.
Dr. Nadia Bastaki, Chief People and Corporate Affairs Officer at Etihad Airways, highlighted the initiative's impact. She described it as more than just a talent programme but a commitment to investing in Emirati professionals' ambitions. The goal is to empower them to lead and innovate on a global scale while contributing to their nation's growth.
Etihad takes pride in its growing Emirati workforce, which currently exceeds 1,200 employees. This includes 431 pilots and numerous engineers and specialists. Notably, female representation among Emiratis at Etihad has reached 48%. The airline fosters an environment where talent can thrive and develop.
The programme also includes recruitment fairs designed to engage directly with potential candidates. These events will showcase Etihad’s National Talent Development Programme and provide insights into career pathways within the airline. Attendees will have opportunities to meet programme leaders and learn about the application process.
