Etihad Airways Achieves Record Half-Year Profit Of AED 1.1 Billion In 2025
Etihad Airways has achieved its most successful half-year performance to date, with record profits and passenger numbers in the first half of 2025. The airline's profit after tax reached AED1.1 billion (US$306 million), marking a 32% increase from the previous year. This growth was driven by strong customer demand, enhanced productivity, efficiency improvements, and better yields in both passenger and cargo sectors.
The airline's total revenue increased by 16% compared to the previous year, with passenger and cargo revenues growing by 16% and 9%, respectively. Financially, Etihad maintained a solid performance, with EBITDA rising by 24% year-on-year to AED2.7 billion (US$739 million), and the EBITDA margin improving to 20%. The airline transported 10.2 million passengers in H1 2025, a 17% increase from the same period last year.

In July 2025, Etihad expanded its fleet by adding five new aircraft, including its first A321LR. This marked the highest number of deliveries received in a single month for the airline. Earlier in April, Etihad introduced its new A321LR product, offering wide-body luxury on narrow-body operations for the first time in the region. The aircraft began service in early August with an inaugural flight to Phuket.
Etihad's operating fleet surpassed 100 aircraft following the delivery of its sixth Airbus A350 in April and reintroduction of a seventh A380 in May. In addition, an agreement was announced for an order of 28 wide-body aircraft with Boeing, supporting Etihad’s long-term growth plans. By June 2025, Etihad served nearly 90 destinations, including both year-round and seasonal routes.
Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa, Chairman of Etihad Airways, stated: "With 27 new destinations launched or announced this year alone, Etihad is proud to help position Abu Dhabi as one of the most accessible and connected cities in the world." He added that this expansion strengthens point-to-point and stopover opportunities while enhancing Abu Dhabi’s role as a gateway for global travellers.
Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad Airways, expressed pride in delivering another record half-year for the airline. "Our strong financial performance and continued passenger growth demonstrate the success of our strategy and dedication of our people," he said. Neves highlighted sustainable expansion through investments in premium experiences and bringing record numbers of visitors to Abu Dhabi via their growing network.
Employee Growth and Engagement
The airline's remarkable performance has been supported by its workforce. In H1 2025, over 1,700 new hires joined Etihad, including more than 100 pilots and 1,000 cabin crew members. Internal career advancement was also notable with over 1,100 promotions across various departments. Employee engagement reached unprecedented levels due to their commitment and professionalism.
Neves acknowledged the contribution of employees: "None of this would be possible without the passion and professionalism of our employees." He also thanked customers: "Finally, I want to thank our customers. We look forward to welcoming even more of you onboard in the months ahead."
In early July, Etihad celebrated carrying over 20 million passengers over the past year—double that of 2022’s figures—highlighting significant growth within a short span.
