Etihad Airways Expands Network With Four New Routes, Contributing To UAE Aviation Growth In 2025
Etihad Airways has recently launched four new routes to Tunis, Hanoi, Chiang Mai, and Hong Kong. These additions occurred over three days and mark a significant milestone in the airline's growth this year. This expansion enhances Abu Dhabi's status as a key hub for the UAE, boosting tourism and trade while contributing nearly 45% to the nation's aviation growth.
The new routes add thousands of seats to Etihad's network, facilitating travel to and from Abu Dhabi. This makes it easier for travellers from Africa and Asia to explore the city's cultural sites, beaches, luxury resorts, and events throughout the year. Additionally, these routes provide UAE residents with more travel options to important leisure and business destinations.

Starting on 1 November, Etihad will offer three weekly flights to Tunis. This service strengthens its North African network and meets the rising demand for travel between Tunisia and the UAE. On 2 November, six weekly flights will connect Abu Dhabi directly with Hanoi for the first time, enhancing trade and tourism ties between Vietnam and the UAE.
From 3 November, Etihad will operate four weekly flights to Chiang Mai. This opens Northern Thailand to travellers from both the Middle East and Europe via Abu Dhabi. Also starting on 3 November are five weekly flights to Hong Kong, reconnecting Abu Dhabi with one of Asia's leading business and leisure centres.
The relaunch of Etihad’s codeshare agreement with Hong Kong Airlines further boosts connectivity across Asia. These new services expand Etihad’s network to over 85 destinations worldwide. They play a crucial role in linking Abu Dhabi globally while promoting tourism and economic growth in the UAE.
CEO Remarks on Network Expansion
Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad Airways, stated: "Each of these destinations adds its own character to our network – from Tunis’s heritage to Hanoi’s vibrancy, Chiang Mai’s charm and Hong Kong’s global energy. Together, they expand options for our guests while bringing more visitors to discover Abu Dhabi – one of the world’s most exciting cities."
Neves emphasised that as Etihad continues delivering nearly half of the UAE's aviation growth this year, their focus remains on connecting more people, cultures, and opportunities through their base in Abu Dhabi.
The introduction of these routes highlights Etihad's commitment to expanding its reach while supporting inbound tourism and trade. With these developments, Etihad strengthens its position as a major player in global aviation.
