Etihad Airways Launches Daily Flights To Addis Ababa, Enhancing Travel Between Africa And The Middle East
Etihad Airways has begun daily flights to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, linking Zayed International Airport with Addis Ababa Bole International Airport. The first flights were fully booked both ways, showing high demand for travel between these capitals. This launch aligns with the activation of Etihad's Joint Venture with Ethiopian Airlines, enhancing travel options between Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.
The partnership between Etihad and Ethiopian Airlines allows for coordinated schedules and joint route development. This collaboration offers passengers more choices and convenience while boosting trade, tourism, and cultural connections between the regions. The agreement also includes cooperation in loyalty programmes, training, and cargo operations.

Through this Joint Venture, Etihad passengers can access over 55 destinations across 33 African countries via Ethiopian's hub in Addis Ababa. Meanwhile, Ethiopian Airlines customers benefit from streamlined access through Abu Dhabi to more than 20 destinations across Asia, Australia, and the Middle East.
The introduction of flights to Addis Ababa is a significant step in Etihad's strategy to expand its presence in Africa. By 2025, the airline plans to increase its footprint on the continent with additional flights to Nairobi reaching 14 weekly by December. There will also be increased frequencies to Casablanca and Johannesburg.
Etihad is set to introduce new destinations in North Africa soon. Tunis and Algiers will join their network next month as part of their strategic growth plan. Additionally, a partnership with Air Seychelles is part of their broader expansion efforts in Africa.
The collaboration between Etihad Airways and Ethiopian Airlines underscores their shared commitment to providing a smoother travel experience. By working together on various fronts such as loyalty programmes and cargo services, they aim to enhance connectivity for travellers.
This expansion into Africa reflects Etihad's ongoing efforts to strengthen its global network. The airline continues to focus on offering more seamless travel options for its passengers across different regions.
