Etihad Airways Boosts Abu Dhabi-Rome Services With Double-Daily Flights

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has announced an expansion of its flight services to Rome, Italy. Starting from 1 November 2024, the airline will increase its operations between Abu Dhabi Zayed International Airport (AUH) and Rome (FCO) to twice daily flights. This move comes in response to the growing demand for travel between these two destinations.

Arik De, Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer at Etihad Airways, expressed enthusiasm about the new schedule. He highlighted that the morning and afternoon departures from Abu Dhabi would offer UAE residents perfect timing for breaks in Italy. De also noted that the updated flight schedule from Rome would provide travellers landing in Abu Dhabi with more opportunities to explore the city's business and leisure offerings. He emphasized that this expansion is part of Etihad's commitment to bringing more visitors to Abu Dhabi and enhancing connections through its expanding global network.

The increase in flights to a double-daily service will significantly boost Etihad's capacity on this route. The airline will now offer almost 10,000 seats weekly between Abu Dhabi and Rome, marking a 22 percent increase in capacity year-on-year.

Etihad Airways plans to operate these services using Boeing 787-9 and Boeing 777-300 aircraft from its young wide-body fleet. These aircraft are known for their award-winning cabin service, ensuring passengers a comfortable and enjoyable journey. Additionally, Etihad offers its Wi-Fly service across these flights. This service allows Etihad Guest members to enjoy complimentary chat packages, while other guests have the option to purchase a full Surf package, providing unlimited data for the duration of their flight.

This expansion by Etihad Airways reflects the airline's ongoing efforts to meet customer demand and enhance its service offerings. By increasing the frequency of flights between Abu Dhabi and Rome, Etihad is not only facilitating travel for UAE residents but also promoting Abu Dhabi as a prime destination for business and leisure travellers from Italy and beyond.
