Estidamah And NEOM Collaborate To Enhance National Workforce Skills In Greenhouse Management
The National Research and Development Center for Sustainable Agriculture, known as Estidamah, has entered into a strategic partnership with NEOM Food Company TOPIAN. This collaboration aims to boost skills in greenhouse management across Saudi Arabia through targeted training programs. The initiative aligns with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 by promoting sustainable agricultural practices.
Following the Greenhouse Crop Management program, this agreement was formalised. The program spanned four weeks and was designed to enhance the expertise of farmers and specialists. It focused on equipping national personnel with knowledge to adopt sustainable practices. Conducted in partnership with TOPIAN and the Dutch Greenhouse Delta (DGD), the program included workshops, discussions, practical applications, and field visits.

The program concentrated on 11 critical areas to improve the agricultural value chain. These areas included increasing greenhouse crop productivity, integrated pest control management, plant physiology, agricultural data analysis, and vertical farming techniques. Such comprehensive coverage aimed to provide participants with a holistic understanding of modern agricultural practices.
Participants in the program came from diverse backgrounds such as farmers, experts, sector specialists, investors, agricultural companies, students, trainees, and recent graduates. Over 75 individuals attended these sessions to refine their skills and explore opportunities that encourage modern agricultural practices in greenhouse management.
This initiative is part of Estidamah's broader efforts to transfer knowledge and develop a skilled national workforce. By enhancing sustainable agricultural systems and localising advanced technologies, Estidamah aims to significantly impact greenhouse management in Saudi Arabia. The program represents a pivotal change in how greenhouses are managed within the Kingdom.
The training sessions were intensive and covered practical applications alongside theoretical knowledge. Participants engaged in field visits to various greenhouses to gain firsthand experience. This hands-on approach ensured that attendees could directly apply what they learned in real-world settings.
By focusing on developing professional skills in greenhouse operations, this collaboration between Estidamah and TOPIAN seeks to empower individuals within the agricultural sector. The goal is not only to improve current practices but also to prepare for future challenges by adopting innovative solutions.
This strategic agreement marks a significant step towards achieving sustainable agriculture in line with Saudi Vision 2030 objectives. By fostering an environment of learning and innovation, it aims to create a more resilient agricultural sector capable of meeting future demands effectively.
