Esports World Cup To Propel Saudi Arabia As Global Gaming Leader
The CEO of the Quality of Life Program, Khalid bin Abdullah Al-Bakr, has stated that the Esports World Cup in Riyadh will significantly boost the electronic gaming sector in the Kingdom. This will help establish Saudi Arabia as a leading global gaming and electronic sports center. The tournament is set to be the largest event of its kind worldwide.
Al-Bakr emphasized the importance of the gaming and Esports sector and its positive impact on citizens' quality of life, particularly the youth. He said the tournament was an opportunity to uncover Saudi talent, support their participation in global competitions, and attract international visitors interested in the electronic gaming sector. He added that this would also help diversify residents' entertainment options, aligning with the Kingdom's Vision 2030 goals.

The Esports World Cup, a monumental event hosted by the Kingdom for the first time, will unfold in Riyadh from July 3 to . The sheer scale of the event is awe-inspiring, with over 1,500 players from 500 top international clubs set to engage in 22 tournaments. These players will be vying for historically high prizes totalling over $60 million, making this a truly significant and intriguing event for the gaming world.
Al-Bakr also highlighted that the Quality of Life Program has introduced several projects related to electronic games. These initiatives, implemented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, have helped promote innovation, support technical entrepreneurs and specialists in developing electronic games, and foster a conducive environment for innovation and the development of digital projects specialized in gaming applications and electronic services.
This includes establishing start-up companies and training and qualification individuals at leading international institutes and specialized companies.
