ERRA Enhances Global Partnerships With India And Hong Kong To Protect Creators' Rights
The Emirates Reprographic Rights Management Association (ERRA) has taken a significant step to protect creators' rights by signing agreements with the Indian Reprographic Rights Organisation and the Hong Kong Reprographic Rights Licensing Society. This move follows the successful International Reprographic Rights Conference in Sharjah, which focused on building strong global partnerships in reprographic rights protection.
These agreements aim to facilitate the exchange of protected creative content among the three entities. They ensure that authors and publishers receive fair compensation for their work. The collaboration reflects a commitment to developing efficient mechanisms to safeguard intellectual property, especially amid digital challenges.

Majd Al Shehhi, Director of ERRA, emphasised that this collaboration enhances the association's role in protecting creators' rights both locally and globally. It also raises awareness about reprographic rights' importance in advancing publishing and supporting creativity. "This partnership marks a significant step towards empowering creators to monetise their intellectual output fairly and sustainably," she stated.
Pranav Gupta from the Indian Reprographic Rights Organisation expressed enthusiasm about the agreement. He said: "This initiative is a major boost for international cooperation in protecting authors' and publishers' rights." He highlighted that exchanging intellectual assets will help creators expand their reach globally while ensuring they receive rightful earnings.
Wong Sharon, Executive Director of Hong Kong Reprographic Rights Licensing Society, stressed that the agreement underscores a shared commitment to protecting creators’ rights and advancing global publishing. She noted: "Our collaboration with ERRA aims to establish frameworks that ensure the fair use of creative content while enabling authors and publishers to maximise returns on their work."
This partnership reaffirms the UAE’s leading role in supporting creators. Such collaborations open wider opportunities for authors and publishers to access global markets, ensuring international exposure while safeguarding their rights. This strengthens the UAE’s position as a regional and global hub for intellectual property protection.
Future Prospects
The agreement serves as a practical model for unifying international efforts to protect creators. It enables them to benefit financially and morally from their work. By fostering an environment that encourages creativity and innovation, these efforts are expected to lead to further expansions in global partnerships, ensuring sustainability in publishing amid rapid digital transformations.
