Ramadan Programmes Benefit 1.5 Million People In UAE And 44 Countries Worldwide

More than 1.5 million people are set to benefit from Emirates Red Crescent Ramadan programmes this year, inside the UAE and in 44 other countries. The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) estimates overall Ramadan support at over AED60 million, aimed at easing humanitarian pressures on communities experiencing hardship in many locations.

Within the UAE, ERC states that about 395,000 people will receive help through Emirates Red Crescent Ramadan programmes, with an allocation above AED32.5 million. Internationally, over one million people in 44 countries across four continents are included, through aid worth nearly AED27.5 million, with priority for areas facing serious humanitarian challenges.

The Emirates Red Crescent Ramadan programmes cover several seasonal initiatives, including the Ramadan food basket, also called Ramadan Ration. Other activities include Iftar for fasting persons, daily fast-breaking meals, Zakat Al Fitr distributions, and provision of Eid clothing for eligible families and individuals, forming an integrated support package.

This year’s seasonal drive is organised under the slogan "Ramadan… Continuous Giving", which ERC unveiled during a press conference at its Abu Dhabi headquarters. The event presented extensive details of the Emirates Red Crescent Ramadan programmes, highlighting broader geographic reach and more diverse assistance, in line with the continuing expansion of ERC’s charitable and development work at home and abroad.

Ahmed Sari Al Mazrouei, Secretary-General of the ERC, explained that the current Ramadan campaign is part of initiatives marking the "Year of Family." Al Mazrouei said ERC humanitarian and development activities are growing inside and outside the UAE, under the guidance and follow-up of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region, and Chairman of the ERC.

Al Mazrouei noted that higher budget allocations for Emirates Red Crescent Ramadan programmes this year have enabled a wider pool of beneficiaries, both locally and internationally. The increased funding is also intended to support longer-lasting humanitarian impact, rather than short-term relief only, by strengthening assistance to vulnerable groups in multiple sectors.

Community role in Emirates Red Crescent Ramadan programmes

According to Al Mazrouei, the campaign also aims to deepen contact with what ERC describes as the UAE’s giving community. The goal is to broaden partnerships with public institutions, private companies and other sectors, so the Emirates Red Crescent Ramadan programmes can reach more people and offer stronger care to targeted segments.

The ERC Secretary-General praised partner bodies from government and private sectors, together with national media outlets, for continued backing of the organisation’s humanitarian role. ERC reports that Emirates Red Crescent Ramadan programmes will provide food support, cash assistance, clothing and other seasonal aid, with particular focus on communities confronting major humanitarian pressures in various countries.
