Emirates Red Crescent Launches Global 'Ramadan Continuous Giving' Campaign
The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) has unveiled its comprehensive Ramadan programmes for this year, aiming to support 1.8 million individuals within the UAE and across 44 countries globally. With an initial budget of approximately AED37,606,500, the initiative encompasses a variety of activities including Iftar, Zakat al-Fitr, Eid clothing, Ramadan food parcels, and Iftar meals. This announcement was made during a press conference at the ERC's headquarters in Abu Dhabi, highlighting the organization's commitment to alleviating humanitarian challenges faced by many.
Under the slogan "Ramadan Continuous Giving", the ERC's seasonal campaign seeks to extend its humanitarian reach both domestically and internationally. Rashid Mubarak Al Mansouri, Secretary-General of ERC, alongside Deputy Secretaries General and partners, emphasized the campaign's goal to support those in need. The initiative reflects the ERC's ongoing efforts to expand its charitable projects and humanitarian programmes significantly.

Al Mansouri highlighted the steady growth of the ERC's activities, attributing this expansion to the generous contributions of donors and benefactors. Their support plays a crucial role in combating poverty, hunger, diseases, and in enhancing basic service infrastructures across various countries. This year's Ramadan campaign aims not only to provide immediate relief but also to foster stronger partnerships within the UAE's giving community, thereby broadening the spectrum of beneficiaries.
Particularly noteworthy is the ERC's focus on regions experiencing severe humanitarian crises, such as the Gaza Strip. In response to these challenges, the ERC has intensified its Ramadan programmes in Gaza, planning to distribute 10,000 Iftar meals daily throughout Ramadan. This effort is part of a broader strategy to provide comprehensive support to Palestinian communities in need.
A detailed breakdown of the domestic impact reveals that 1,071,540 people across the UAE will benefit from this year's Ramadan initiatives. The distribution includes approximately 1 million individuals participating in the Iftar programme and 35,000 families receiving essential food baskets. Additionally, 36,500 people will benefit from Zakat al-Fitr contributions. A novel initiative this year introduces exclusive Ramadan tents for women in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Ajman.
Internationally, the ERC's outreach extends to 806,448 individuals in 44 countries across Asia, Africa, Europe, and South America. The allocation for these programmes includes AED 7,700,000 for Iftar projects, AED 3,000,500 for Zakat al-Fitr contributions, and AED 3,500,000 towards Eid clothing.
To facilitate donations and maximize participation within the UAE, the ERC has established around 321 collection sites nationwide. These sites are strategically located in shopping malls, markets, and densely populated areas. Additionally, contributions can be made through various channels including the ERC's centres, website, smartphone application, bank deposits, text messages, a toll-free phone number, cash donation boxes, and electronic devices.
The ERC's Ramadan campaign exemplifies a holistic approach to philanthropy by addressing immediate needs while fostering long-term partnerships for sustainable impact. Through these comprehensive efforts, the organization continues to play a pivotal role in supporting vulnerable communities both within the UAE and around the world.
