ERC Boosts Humanitarian Aid To Gaza, Enhancing Support During Ramadan
The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) has significantly expanded its relief efforts to assist the Palestinian people in Gaza during the holy month of Ramadan. With a focus on alleviating the hardships faced by the residents, the ERC has initiated a convoy laden with essential supplies as part of its Iftar project. This initiative falls under the broader Gallant Knight 3 humanitarian operation, demonstrating a commitment to improving humanitarian conditions in Gaza.
With an allocation of AED 3 million, the ERC aims to purchase vital supplies including rice, wheat, sugar, and beans from Egypt. These essentials are intended to support 28 public kitchens and 10 bakeries across Gaza. A fleet of 16 trucks, carrying a total of 336 tonnes of food aid, has embarked on its journey from Cairo to Al Arish, preparing for entry into Gaza.

Rashid Mubarak Al Mansouri, Secretary-General of ERC, highlighted the UAE's dedication to supporting the Palestinian people during their time of need. "The dispatch of the aid convoy comes within the framework of the keenness of the UAE's wise leadership to stand with the Palestinians in Gaza during the ordeal they are going through, and to alleviate their suffering by meeting their basic needs," he stated. This gesture underscores the UAE's commitment to humanitarian aid and solidarity with those in crisis.
The ERC's efforts in Gaza began with Operation Gallant Knight 3 on 5th November last year, aiming to address the diverse needs of those affected by the ongoing crisis. Currently, ERC teams are preparing a third cargo ship for dispatch. Ordered by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, this ship is set to carry 4,500 tonnes of foodstuff, 3,000 tents, and Eid clothing to support the residents of Gaza.
Previous shipments include a first aid ship dispatched to Al Arish in December last year as part of Operation Gallant Knight 3. It carried over 4,016 tonnes of various relief materials. A second ship followed in February this year, delivering 4,303 tonnes of food, alongside 154 tonnes of shelter materials and 87 tonnes of medical aid. These efforts are part of a continuous endeavor by the UAE to mitigate the suffering and improve living conditions for civilians in Gaza amidst an escalating humanitarian crisis.
The initiatives undertaken by the Emirates Red Crescent reflect a broader commitment by the UAE to provide timely and effective assistance to vulnerable populations. By focusing on essential needs such as food and medical aid, these efforts aim not only to address immediate hardships but also to foster a sense of solidarity and support among communities during challenging times.
