EO Marketplace Platform Launches To Strengthen Saudi Arabia's Role In Space And Geospatial Technologies
The Neo Space Group (NSG), a subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund, has introduced the Earth Observation (EO) Marketplace platform. This innovative digital marketplace, known as NSG UP42, simplifies access to EO data. It aims to boost geospatial data usage amid a significant increase in satellite activity. In 2023 alone, over 223 launches resulted in more than 1,000 EO satellites being deployed.
By offering a unified and user-friendly interface, the platform addresses major market challenges. It removes technical and commercial barriers to accessing satellite data. This makes it easier for various entities to utilise this information effectively.

The platform supports API and SDK interfaces, facilitating direct integration with geographic systems and image analysis services. It enhances cross-functional collaboration within organisations by seamlessly integrating with geographic analysis tools. This integration allows for efficient data utilisation across different sectors.
Global providers such as Umbra, ICEYE, BlackSky, Satelogic, 21AT, Planet, and Maxar are included in the platform. Additionally, it offers open data from Sentinel-2 and Landsat. This diverse range of sources ensures comprehensive data availability for users.
The launch of this Saudi-developed platform marks a significant milestone in establishing a comprehensive geospatial infrastructure. It not only benefits the Kingdom but also the broader region. The platform paves the way for strategic partnerships in areas like data analysis, security, and infrastructure development.
This initiative aligns with Saudi Vision 2030 by contributing to a knowledge-based economy powered by space technologies and smart data. It strengthens Saudi Arabia's position as a leader in space and geospatial technologies.
Supporting Key Sectors
The EO Marketplace platform supports various sectors such as environment and infrastructure, energy, real estate, mining, transportation, logistics, and agriculture. These applications align with the initiatives and objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
Government ministries and agencies focused on infrastructure and the environment can benefit from this platform. Large enterprises, national project contractors, universities, research centres, startups specialising in AI and data analytics also stand to gain from its capabilities.
Operational Efficiencies
The platform standardises account management processes while automating compliance procedures. By offering volume-based discounts, it delivers cost savings alongside operational efficiencies for its users.
This development represents an important step towards enhancing geospatial infrastructure within Saudi Arabia. It supports growth in EO data services while enabling diverse applications across key sectors.
