Environment Ministry Conducts Inspections Of Public Benefit Markets In Madinah For Hajj Compliance
The Madinah branch of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture executed a comprehensive inspection plan during the Hajj season. Between Dhu al-Qidah 20 and 25, they focused on public benefit markets to ensure vendors adhered to health and regulatory standards. This initiative led to the identification of 63 violations.
In their efforts, 286 personnel were organized into 11 field teams, supported by 68 vehicles and equipment. They conducted 738 visits to fruit and vegetable markets in Madinah. These inspections uncovered 33 violations and resulted in the disposal of 3,094 kilograms of agricultural products deemed unfit for consumption.

The ministry collected 75 pesticide residue samples from public benefit markets. To ensure compliance with regulatory standards, they conducted 150 tests at branch laboratories. This was crucial for maintaining consumer safety and product quality.
At Madinah’s central date market, inspections revealed that a total of 461,797 kilograms of dates were traded from farms to retail outlets. The overall value of these transactions amounted to SAR7,039,806.
The branch also carried out 132 field visits to vegetation resource sites such as farms and warehouses. During these visits, they provided agricultural guidance to beneficiaries. Additionally, another 192 field visits focused on services related to the water sector.
Various departments within the branch received a total of 38 reports. All these reports were addressed by maintenance teams promptly.
Livestock Sector Inspections
The ministry's branch conducted extensive inspections in livestock markets and slaughterhouses with a total of 842 field visits. These efforts identified 30 violations. Under the livestock sector, they carried out an additional 210 visits providing veterinary guidance services to 189 individuals.
Medical examinations were performed at both licensed and mobile veterinary clinics. A total of 141 examinations took place, including treatment for 59 illness cases at licensed clinics.
This comprehensive approach ensured that all sectors under the ministry's purview maintained high standards during this critical period.
