The UAE is taking steps to boost entrepreneurship among Emirati families. The Ministry of Economy and Tourism, alongside the Ministry of Community Empowerment, has launched a programme to train 1,000 family entrepreneurs. This initiative is part of the "The Emirates: The Startup Capital of the World" campaign by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism, highlighted the UAE's commitment to supporting entrepreneurial projects. He stated that this initiative aligns with national efforts to enhance the entrepreneurial ecosystem. It aims to inspire Emiratis to turn innovative ideas into sustainable ventures, strengthening the UAE's position as a hub for entrepreneurship.

The programme will provide professional training and capacity-building opportunities. Participants will learn to develop products that meet market standards. The initiative encourages Emirati family entrepreneurs to create ventures within the new economy, promoting income sustainability and self-sufficiency.
Aisha Ahmed Yousef emphasised that supporting Emirati family entrepreneurs is a top priority for the Ministry of Community Empowerment. She noted that developing their skills will help them become pioneering business owners with innovative approaches. This empowerment aims to achieve economic independence through diversified income sources.
Over five years, around 200 families will be trained annually. Participants will receive technical support and guidance in business development and marketing. This support ensures their projects' continuity and long-term growth.
The initiative involves collaboration with the New Economy Academy and strategic partnerships with entities like Majra – the National CSR Fund. Sara Shaw, CEO of Majra, expressed support for this initiative, highlighting its role in advancing sustainable social responsibility and fostering partnerships for sustainable development.
Dr. Laila Faridoon from the New Economy Academy explained that the programme equips participants with tools for managing productive ventures according to high standards. It prepares entrepreneurs from Emirati families to innovate and sustain production while overcoming market challenges.
The number of Emirati family entrepreneurs grew significantly in 2024, reaching 3,307—a 4.5% increase from 2023's 3,166. This growth reflects the success of national initiatives supporting this sector.
Building a Collaborative Ecosystem
