Riyadh International Book Fair Promises Enriching Cultural Experience For Visitors

The Riyadh International Book Fair is set to take place from September 26 to October 5 at King Saud University in Riyadh. Organised by the Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission, the event will host writers, intellectuals, and thought leaders from Saudi Arabia and beyond. Over 2,000 publishing houses from 30 countries will participate, reinforcing the fair's reputation as a major cultural platform in the Arab world.

Dr. Mohammed Alwan, CEO of the Commission, emphasised the fair's importance in a recent press release. He noted that it has been a key cultural event for five decades. "Its success reflects the Saudi leadership's unwavering support for the cultural sector," he stated. The fair plays a vital role in shaping the Arab cultural landscape.

The fair will feature 800 pavilions and over 200 events catering to all age groups. Activities will promote reading culture and encourage cultural creativity. A dedicated children's area will offer literary and recreational activities aimed at enhancing creativity among young people. Competitions will nurture curiosity and help discover talents.

A special section for self-published Saudi authors highlights the Commission's commitment to supporting local writers. This initiative aims to strengthen the local publishing industry by providing authors with a platform to showcase their work to a wide audience.

This year, Qatar will be honoured as a guest country at the fair. It will present its rich cultural and intellectual heritage through a special pavilion featuring rare manuscripts and publications from its Ministry of Culture.
