Empower Supports UAE Sustainable Development Agenda At Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2026

Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation PJSC (Empower) is underscoring its support for the UAE’s sustainable development goals by promoting energy-efficient district cooling. The company’s stance aligns with the country’s wider climate efforts and coincides with Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) 2026, where sustainability and clean energy remain central policy priorities.

ADSW 2026, organised by Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, Masdar, is scheduled from 11 to 17 January 2026 in Abu Dhabi. The event focuses on accelerating sustainable development under the theme "The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go," and brings together leaders from clean energy, finance, AI, and technology.

Empower backs UAE sustainability at ADSW 2026

Empower stresses that district cooling systems support the UAE’s long-term sustainability agenda and its climate action commitments. These systems help reduce national carbon emissions and improve energy efficiency. They are also viewed as important infrastructure for expanding smart cities and green buildings, particularly across Dubai’s growing real estate and development projects.

The demand for Empower’s services continues to increase as the real estate market expands and new developments launch across Dubai. According to the company, this trend indicates growing trust in district cooling as an environmentally friendly option. It also shows broader adoption of centralised cooling networks instead of conventional individual air conditioning systems.

National energy and climate strategies form the backdrop for Empower’s role in the sector. The UAE Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 aim to expand clean and renewable energy, while building a sustainable development model. These plans strengthen the UAE’s position as a major player in district cooling.

Empower links its expansion to these national strategies, noting that its infrastructure is developed to international technical standards. District cooling plants and networks are designed for large-scale efficiency. They also support government objectives to manage peak electricity demand and conserve natural resources such as fuel and water.

Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower, said: "The UAE places strong emphasis on sustainability and environmental conservation, reflecting its pivotal role in mitigating the impacts of climate change. This is demonstrated through the launch and implementation of ambitious national strategies, including the UAE Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, which aim to increase reliance on clean and renewable energy and establish a sustainable development model. This strategic direction has reinforced the UAE’s international leadership in the district cooling industry, driven by long-term investments in advanced infrastructure and facilities operated in line with the highest global standards,"

Bin Shafar added: "Sustainability is a cornerstone of Empower’s operations and a central pillar of its corporate strategy. The company plays a pivotal role in supporting Dubai’s sustainable future through district cooling systems, which are among the most efficient solutions for space cooling, reducing energy consumption by up to 50 percent compared to conventional air conditioning systems, significantly lowering carbon emissions, and conserving resources while maintaining the highest levels of operational efficiency. Empower also continues to support smart cities and green buildings in Dubai by investing in cutting-edge technologies and innovation to enhance cooling efficiency and long-term sustainability,"

Through its focus on energy-efficient district cooling, Empower aligns its growth plans with the UAE’s climate goals and the themes of ADSW 2026. As national strategies advance and development projects expand, district cooling remains a central component of efforts to manage energy use, cut emissions, and support more resilient urban infrastructure.
