Emirati Women Celebrated As Pillars Of Partnership And Sustainability By UAHR

The Union Association for Human Rights (UAHR) has highlighted the pivotal role of Emirati women in fostering development and sustainability. On Emirati Women’s Day, Dr. Fatima Khalifa Al Kaabi, President of the UAHR, acknowledged their significant contributions under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. This leadership has enabled Emirati women to achieve numerous local, regional, and international successes.

Dr. Al Kaabi praised the extensive support and follow-up from H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, known as the Mother of the Nation. Sheikha Fatima is the Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF). This support has been crucial in empowering Emirati women to play a vital role in sustainable development.

Emirati Women Lead in Sustainability

Maryam Al Ahmadi, UAHR Vice President, discussed how wise leadership has encouraged Emirati women to engage in human rights work. The National Strategy for Empowerment of Emirati Women was launched to provide a framework for government, private sector, and civil society organisations. This strategy aims to position the UAE among the most advanced countries in women's empowerment.

Dr. Al Kaabi also highlighted the unique Emirati experience recognised in various international reports. The 2024 World Competitiveness Report recently ranked the UAE second globally for the percentage of women in parliament. Additionally, women hold around 66 percent of public sector jobs, including 30 percent in senior leadership positions.

Israa Ali Al Ameri, a member of the Board of Directors at UAHR, noted that since the era of Founding Father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Emirati women have made significant strides alongside men in all stages of development. Their achievements ensure that the UAE continues to lead in various global indicators.

Commitment to Human Rights

Dr. Al Kaabi emphasised UAHR’s dedication to supporting and enhancing Emirati women's roles in human rights fields. This commitment is part of broader efforts to ensure their active participation in preserving sustainability for future generations.

Maryam Al Ahmadi expressed gratitude towards H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak for her unwavering support. This support ensures that achievements are sustained and that women continue to contribute actively to sustainability initiatives aligned with President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's directives.

The UAHR remains committed to its mission of promoting human rights and empowering Emirati women through continuous support and strategic initiatives.
