Launch Of The First Emirati-Russian Psychology Dictionary Marks A Milestone In International Collaboration

The Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination (ZHO) has introduced the Emirati-Russian Psychology Dictionary. This dictionary is a pioneering initiative, marking the first of its kind on local, regional, and global levels. The project stems from an international strategic partnership with Ural Federal University in Russia, aiming to enhance collaboration in psychology and psychiatry.

Several UAE entities were involved in the dictionary's launch. These include UAE University, Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, Government Empowerment - Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi Media Network, Abu Dhabi Public Health - Department of Health, and the Statistics Centre. Their participation underscores the collaborative effort behind this significant project.

Abdullah Al Humaidan, Secretary-General of ZHO, expressed his delight at the dictionary's launch. He highlighted it as a pioneering achievement for the organisation. Al Humaidan stated that this initiative aligns with ZHO's forward-thinking approach. He noted that both Arabic and Russian libraries lacked a specialised scientific dictionary covering theoretical, applied, and practical branches of psychology.

Al Humaidan pointed out that researchers and translators face difficulties translating psychological concepts between Arabic and Russian. He said, "Upon reviewing the Arabic and foreign scientific literature, it became clear that the Arabic and Russian libraries lack a specialised and comprehensive scientific dictionary that addresses scientific concepts in theoretical, applied, and practical branches of psychology in both Arabic and Russian." Thus, this dictionary serves as a reliable reference for translation processes and scientific research.
