Emirati Athletes Shatter Records With 37 Medals In One Day At Gulf Youth Games
Emirati athletes have once again demonstrated their prowess at the first Gulf Youth Games UAE 2024, shattering records with a staggering haul of 37 medals on the event's twelfth day. This achievement sets a new benchmark for the highest number of medals won in a single day since the commencement of the tournament on April 16. The UAE, hosting the inaugural edition of the Gulf Youth Games under the theme "Our Gulf is One... Our Youth is Promising," has seen an impressive gathering of 3,500 young athletes from across the region. These competitors, both male and female, are showcasing their talents across 24 sports disciplines until May 2.
On Saturday alone, the UAE's athletes excelled across various competitions, securing 18 medals in karate, 10 in swimming, four in judo, three in archery, and two in cycling. This outstanding performance has further cemented their lead in the medal standings, with their total tally now at an impressive 231 medals. This includes 73 gold, 86 silver, and 72 bronze medals. Saudi Arabia also made significant strides, increasing their medal count to 93, including 40 gold, 33 silver, and 20 bronze. Kuwait is not far behind, ranking third with a total of 89 medals.
Bahrain and Qatar have also made their mark in the games. Bahrain currently holds fourth place with a total of 57 medals, including 19 gold, 15 silver, and 23 bronze. Qatar has climbed to fifth place with a collection of 42 medals - 17 gold, 10 silver, and 15 bronze. Oman rounds out the top six with a total of 46 medals.
The Gulf Youth Games UAE 2024 has not only been a platform for showcasing athletic talent but also a celebration of unity and promise among the youth of the Gulf region. As these games progress towards their conclusion on May 2, each participating nation continues to display exceptional skill and sportsmanship, contributing to the event's success and fostering a spirit of camaraderie among the Gulf countries.
