Emirates SkyCargo Foresees Up To 8% Operational Growth In 2024, Enhancing Global Trade

Emirates SkyCargo, the renowned air freight division of Emirates, is poised for significant operational growth, with expectations to see an increase of up to 8 percent in 2024. This forecast was shared by Nabil Sultan, Divisional Senior Vice-President of Emirates SkyCargo, who also shed light on the pivotal role the UAE plays in the sphere of global trade. Sultan pointed out the impressive annual growth rates of 20 to 25 percent within the nation's cargo sector, a testament to the UAE's formidable infrastructure and its strategic connectivity between airports and seaports that enhance air-sea cargo movements globally.

For nearly four decades, Emirates SkyCargo has been instrumental in facilitating global trade, offering connections across six continents through its extensive network spanning over 140 destinations. The company prides itself on its state-of-the-art infrastructure at its Dubai-based cargo hubs. With a fleet surpassing 250 aircraft, including passenger planes and dedicated cargo freighters, Emirates SkyCargo ensures efficient transportation of goods. Remarkably, 70 percent of their cargo is transported on passenger aircraft, each capable of carrying at least 20 tons.

The fleet's capabilities are further bolstered by 11 Boeing 777F freighters, designed to meet specialized cargo needs. Sultan emphasized Emirates SkyCargo's leadership in air logistics, attributing it to ongoing investments in technology, facilities, equipment, and personnel. These investments enable the company to offer innovative and efficient solutions to customers and partners alike.

Emirates SkyCargo's commitment extends beyond its immediate operations. The company plays a crucial role in supporting Dubai's ambition to emerge as the world's premier logistics hub. This involves expanding their fleet and network to provide superior services worldwide, aligning with Dubai's economic objectives.

At the 13th WTO Ministerial Conference, Emirates SkyCargo took an active stance to advocate for the cargo sector. The aim was to introduce proposals that address the challenges faced by the transportation and shipping industry. Sultan highlighted the significance of their participation, viewing it as an opportunity to enhance global shipping operations and reinforce the sector's role in promoting international trade.

This strategic approach not only underscores Emirates SkyCargo's dedication to excellence but also its commitment to contributing positively to the broader logistics and transportation landscape. As they look towards 2024, their anticipated growth reflects both their operational prowess and their integral role in shaping global trade dynamics.
