Emirates Scholar Becomes First Emirati Institutional Partner Of European Medical Association
The Emirates Scholar Centre for Research and Studies has formed a strategic alliance with the European Medical Association (EMA). This collaboration makes it the first Emirati and Arab institution to join EMA as an institutional partner. This partnership is the result of a year-long effort by the Centre to establish European cooperation, adhering to top international research standards.
Dr. Fawaz Habbal, Director-General of Emirates Scholar, stated, "Our official membership in the European Medical Association directly reflects the Centre’s commitment to advancing medical research regionally and globally. It marks a significant step forward in activating more than 20 joint research projects over the next three years, particularly in the fields of modern medicine, rehabilitation, and mental health—fully in line with the UAE’s wise leadership’s vision to invest in knowledge and strengthen international cooperation."

This partnership provides over 250,000 EMA members, including researchers and healthcare professionals, with new opportunities. They can engage in scientific publishing, collaborative research projects, and participate in major international medical conferences. This strengthens the UAE's role as an active participant in the global scientific community.
A comprehensive framework has been set up to activate this partnership through specialised events and knowledge exchange. A key event is the 2nd European Arab Medical Congress (EAMC 2025), organised by Emirates Scholar and Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination. The congress will take place from 9th to 11th October 2025 at Abu Dhabi Energy Centre.
The partnership aims to launch its first joint medical research project soon. Plans include developing a unified digital platform for researchers from both institutions and establishing a joint scientific journal for pioneering studies in medicine and health sciences.
Professor Vincenzo Costigliola, President of EMA, expressed enthusiasm about this collaboration: "This Partnership represents a pivotal moment in expanding medical and research cooperation between Europe, United Arab Emirates and the Arab region. Through this partnership, we look forward to building a comprehensive scientific platform that enhances knowledge exchange and fosters innovative research to address the most pressing global health challenges."
This collaboration aligns with UAE's vision of promoting innovation and academic collaboration worldwide. It acknowledges Emirates Scholar's contributions at national and international levels while aiming to enhance global academic partnerships.
