Emirates Partners With Parsys To Introduce Advanced Telemedicine Station For Inflight Medical Care
Emirates has partnered with Parsys Telemedicine to introduce advanced equipment for delivering high-quality medical care during flights. This collaboration involves an investment of over US$2.4 million to co-design this innovative equipment, which will be installed on 300 aircraft in the coming years. The new 'telemedicine station' features high-definition video conferencing, remote passenger assessment, secure data transmission, and a 12-Leads Telecardia ECG.
The telemedicine station's capabilities allow Emirates' trained cabin crew to handle emergencies effectively. This initiative is part of Emirates' commitment to providing top-notch medical equipment onboard. The development of the new Parsys kit resulted from a year-long collaboration between Emirates and Parsys, aiming to create a more efficient, reliable, and safer inflight tool for passengers.

The newly developed system includes the Parsys Telemedicine Kit for Emirates and the Parsys Cloud. This portable telemedicine station enables cabin crew to collect vital information and signs from passengers. The gathered data is then transmitted to Emirates’ Ground Medical Support team based at the Emirates Group Headquarters in Dubai, available around the clock.
The kit comprises various medical devices such as a pulse oximeter, thermometer, blood pressure monitor, glucometer, and electrocardiogram (ECG). These tools are essential for assessing passengers' health conditions accurately during flights. The seamless integration of these devices ensures that vital signs are automatically sent to the Medcapture device via Bluetooth.
The Medcapture device connects to the Parsys Cloud, a secure platform that allows Ground Medical Support to receive inflight data and communicate with cabin crew efficiently. This system ensures customer data is handled according to data protection regulations, maintaining privacy and security standards.
This technological advancement eliminates the need for cabin crew to manually note down readings and relay them. Instead, it provides a streamlined process where information is automatically captured and transmitted securely. This innovation enhances the overall safety and reliability of medical support provided during flights.
By adopting this state-of-the-art telemedicine solution, Emirates continues its tradition of investing in high-quality medical equipment. The collaboration with Parsys has resulted in a bespoke inflight tool that significantly improves the efficiency of medical care available onboard.
