UAE Ministry Of Human Resources Announces Second Edition Of Labour Market Award
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) in the United Arab Emirates has recently announced the launch of the second edition of the Emirates Labour Market Award. This initiative is designed to celebrate the achievements of private sector companies and their workforce, further cementing the UAE's reputation as a prime location for work and investment. Under the esteemed patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, this year's award sees the introduction of two additional categories: Labour Accommodations and Special Recognition, thereby expanding the total to five categories.
Following the success of its inaugural edition, which highlighted exemplary practices within the labour market, the number of accolades has been increased from 66 to 90. Moreover, the total prize value has seen a significant rise to approximately AED37 million from AED9 million. The award's criteria have been meticulously crafted to reflect sustainability and innovation, underscoring its vital role in fostering a competitive and efficient labour market.

Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, lauded His Highness Sheikh Mansour's unwavering support. He emphasized that the award is aimed at enhancing competitiveness across various sectors by implementing robust governance criteria to ensure transparency and fairness in determining winners.
The initiative aligns with the UAE's strategic vision of promoting leadership and excellence within the labour market. It seeks to acknowledge significant contributions, highlight innovative practices, stimulate competitiveness, and strengthen partnerships between government entities and private sector organizations. Such collaborative efforts are pivotal in raising the standards of the labour market and attracting highly skilled professionals, thereby supporting the nation's ambition towards a knowledge-based economy and sustainable development.
The award encompasses five distinct categories: Companies, Outstanding Workforce, Labour Accommodations, Business Services Partners, and Special Recognition. The first category celebrates companies that excel in human resources practices; the second acknowledges skilled workers; the third focuses on investments in labour accommodations; the fourth honors contributions towards developing leading labour market practices; while the Special Recognition category celebrates pioneering companies and individuals making significant impacts on the labour market.
Winners in the Companies category will enjoy benefits such as discounts on MoHRE services, classification in MoHRE's classifications, and inclusion in its Diamond tier. Individuals will be awarded cash prizes. Nominations are open until August 31, 2024, via Riyada.mohre.gov.ae. The first edition attracted over 3500 nominations, with 66 workers and companies being honored amidst global media attention. The second edition aims to build on this foundation by recognizing even more outstanding contributions to the UAE's labour market.
