Emirates Intellectual Property Association Strengthens Collaboration With WIPO For Enhanced IP Rights Protection

The collaboration between the Emirates Intellectual Property Association and the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) is crucial for safeguarding intellectual property rights, according to Major General Dr. Abdul Quddus Abdul Razzaq Al Obaidly. As Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Excellence and Pioneering Affairs at Dubai Police, he highlighted this partnership during the 66th session of WIPO's General Assembly in Geneva, which runs until 17th July.

The association has been actively working with the WIPO Academy to roll out several significant programmes. One such initiative is the "Training of Trainers" programme, designed to equip specialists with the skills needed to promote awareness about intellectual property rights. Additionally, a capacity-building programme aims to train law enforcement officers across the UAE to tackle intellectual property violations effectively.

Strengthening IP Rights: Emirates and WIPO

In October, the association plans to host the Second Gulf Conference alongside the Bahrain Intellectual Property Association. Furthermore, they will partner with the Arab Administrative Development Organisation for the Fourth Arab Conference at the University of Sharjah in September. November will see them organising the 14th International Conference in collaboration with INTERPOL.

Engagement with International Organisations

The delegation's agenda includes meetings with various international bodies like the International Trademark Association (INTA), Arab Intellectual Property Bureau, and WIPO Academy. They will also engage in broader discussions with stakeholders from different countries and non-governmental organisations to enhance cooperation.

Major General Al Obaidly reiterated their dedication to strengthening global partnerships and advancing intellectual property protection systems both locally and internationally. This commitment underscores their ongoing efforts to foster a robust framework for intellectual property rights protection worldwide.
