Emirates Health Services' Ghiath System Receives Intellectual Property Rights From UAE Ministry Of Economy
Emirates Health Services (EHS) has revealed that its "Ghiath" system for emergency management and business continuity has received intellectual property rights from the UAE Ministry of Economy. This recognition highlights the system's innovative approach to managing crises and emergencies, increasing EHS's total intellectual properties to ten.
Dr. Yousif Al Serkal, Director-General of EHS, stated that the intellectual property rights granted to "Ghiath" underscore its importance in boosting healthcare readiness for future challenges. He noted that this aligns with the UAE leadership's vision to develop key sectors and position the nation among the most innovative globally.

The achievement reflects EHS’s dedication to implementing global best practices to achieve national strategies like "We the UAE 2031" and the UAE Centennial 2071. These initiatives aim to improve quality of life and build a sustainable healthy future.
Dr. Wedad AlMaidoor AlMheiri, Director of the Emergency Operations Center at EHS, expressed pride in "Ghiath's" recognition. She mentioned that this smart system will play a crucial role in enabling decision-makers to make informed decisions using accurate data on vital resources and facility readiness.
By offering a centralised data platform, statistical reports, and specialised tools for readiness assessment, "Ghiath" will greatly enhance emergency response effectiveness and address future challenges.
Pioneering Digital Risk Management
EHS is the first health authority in the region to digitise risk records, analyse business impact, and create a comprehensive platform for hazardous materials incident response through "Ghiath." This ensures effective emergency response, monitors business continuity, and efficiently allocates roles across all departments of the Emergency Operations Center.
The system was launched during EHS’s participation in Arab Health 2023. It aims to adopt a smart digital system integrating internal operations with strategic partners while establishing a digitised risk management framework and business continuity management (BCM) system according to national and international standards.
Integration with National Systems
"Ghiath" is linked with the "Jahiz" system of the Ministry of Health and Prevention and the National Emergency and Crisis Management Authority's epidemiological mapping platform. It also collaborates on major incident reports with the National Ambulance.
This positions "Ghiath" as a pioneering system in digitising risk management and business continuity activities within healthcare. It adheres to top international quality standards such as those from Joint Commission International (JCI), Government Excellence Framework (G4), ISO 9001 for quality management, ISO 45001 for occupational health and safety, ISO 10001 for customer service charters, ISO 10002 for complaint handling, and ISO 10004 for measuring customer satisfaction.
This achievement not only highlights EHS’s commitment but also sets a benchmark in healthcare innovation within the region.
