Emirates Health Services Board Evaluates Progress On Key Transformational Projects In Healthcare

The Emirates Health Services (EHS) Board of Directors held its sixth meeting of 2024 in Dubai. The agenda included discussions on institutional performance for the third quarter, progress on transformational projects, and updates on their implementation. These initiatives aim to improve healthcare services at preventive, therapeutic, and rehabilitative levels, enhancing the quality of life in line with global standards.

Dr. Mohammad Salim Al Olama, Chairman of the Board, led the meeting attended by board members and Dr. Yousif Mohammed Al Serkal, Director-General of EHS. Various projects and key issues were also discussed during this session. Dr. Al Olama reiterated EHS's commitment to being a leading government entity in implementing transformational projects since their inception nationwide.

EHS Board Reviews Healthcare Transformation Progress

Dr. Al Olama emphasised that EHS’s strategy aligns with UAE leadership directives and national strategies focusing on enhancing government services and embedding digital transformation in healthcare. This involves adopting global best practices and leveraging advancements in medical technology to improve healthcare delivery.

During the meeting, Dr. Al Olama highlighted EHS’ determination to make strategic decisions that enhance the performance of all units, health facilities, and service delivery channels. He commended board members for their roles in supporting EHS's strategic objectives aimed at providing sustainable health practices contributing to "We the UAE 2031" vision.

Dr. Yousif Mohammed Al Serkal stated that the meeting focused on evaluating outcomes of transformational projects as per established plans and timelines. This aligns with EHS's vision to become a global leader in delivering high-quality health services through proactive, integrated healthcare based on technological advancements and a professional workforce.

Dr. Al Serkal highlighted major transformational projects launched in the second cycle (2023-2024) as crucial for achieving UAE Vision 2031 goals. He discussed significant outcomes from these initiatives and third-quarter performance results, stressing the need for successful experiences and best practices to enhance health care through innovation.

Adapting to Global Changes

He also noted the importance of adapting to global changes and emerging health challenges, emphasising readiness and resilience to ensure sustainability and quality of health services. This strategic approach aims to elevate UAE's healthcare landscape, fulfilling both short-term and long-term national goals.

The board reviewed recommendations from the Audit and Risk Committee and Development Committee, assessed financial performance, and addressed outcomes from previous meetings. They discussed key performance results, challenges, and developmental progress across various strategic levels leading to recommendations for further enhancing health services in the country.
