Emirates Global Aluminium Achieves Recognition In World Economic Forum's Global Lighthouse Network For 4IR Adoption

Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA), the UAE's largest industrial firm outside oil and gas, has been acknowledged by the World Economic Forum (WEF). EGA is now part of the Global Lighthouse Network, which includes facilities that have effectively implemented Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) technologies on a large scale. This recognition marks EGA as the first industrial company in the UAE and the first aluminium company worldwide to join this network.

EGA's digital transformation efforts have concentrated on enhancing its workforce's digital skills. Over 3,000 employees have received training in areas like artificial intelligence and agile methodologies. This focus on upskilling has been crucial in integrating 4IR technologies into their operations. The adoption of these technologies has significantly boosted EGA's operational efficiency and productivity.

In the past three years, EGA has seen a financial impact exceeding AED 365 million (around $100 million USD) through more than 80 4IR use cases. These implementations have also led to improvements in quality, safety, and sustainability. The company's new digital manufacturing platform has cut AI-based image and video analysis costs by over 80% while increasing speed by up to 13 times.

Operational Enhancements

At Al Taweelah, EGA has reduced operational downtimes by 50%, decreased non-productive time by 18%, and increased equipment effectiveness by 12%. These achievements were made possible through locally developed industrial technologies. Such advancements underscore EGA's commitment to leveraging technology for enhanced performance.

Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, CEO of EGA, remarked that this achievement bolsters the UAE's leadership in developing industrial technologies. He stated, "Joining the Global Lighthouse Network increases opportunities for knowledge exchange to further enhance competitiveness in 4IR and AI applications, improving efficiency, sustainability, and innovation."

Bin Kalban also noted that EGA launched its digital transformation plan in 2021. The recognition from WEF highlights the company's progress in adopting 4IR technologies to boost industrial operations and customer experiences. EGA remains committed to adopting innovations to achieve top production efficiency levels.

This recognition not only highlights EGA's accomplishments but also opens doors for further collaboration and knowledge sharing within the Global Lighthouse Network. By continuing to embrace cutting-edge technologies, EGA aims to maintain its competitive edge in the industry while contributing to sustainable development goals.
